At the heart of CranioSacral Therapy are some important concepts

Many of our responses are deep reflexes based on previous experiences.

There is a trust that the intelligence in the body will choose the best way to heal.

CranioSacral Therapy is increasingly regarded as a preventive health measure.

Most of our defining experiences are encoded non-verbally and non-consciously in our bodies. We are hard-wired to respond to overwhelming and traumatic experiences by moving away from danger and we immediately move into a state of activation (flight or fight) or dissociation (we freeze). In fact, birth itself is a defining experience providing the earliest experiences coded in the body. It can create a trail of patterns that affect future events and behaviors, making it an important part of cranial work. CranioSacral Therapy with a Biodynamic Perspective is an effective modality to support a safe, contained, processing of traumatic experiences. This includes ‘hard trauma’ caused by a single overwhelming event, or ‘soft trauma,’ the slow accumulation of stress and tension from multiple distressing experiences. We have the innate ability to process and overcome trauma.

Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy with a Biodynamic Perspective is about surrendering to the priorities of the body. The subtle rhythms present in every cell and organ are essential factors of a normal, healthy, functioning body. There is a trust that the intelligence in the body will choose the best way to heal. I do not impose a “plan” from the outside. Instead, I listen and support the body’s inherent striving towards health. Stillness is a defining goal of this modality because change happens in still moments when an individual comes back into relationship with what is around them.

CranioSacral Therapy is increasingly regarded as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. It is used to relieve physical problems including headaches, chronic pain, TMJD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction), and scoliosis, as well as psychological issuess such as learning disabilities, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, moral injury, and depression. It is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a the CranioSacral System system which is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. I use a soft touch as a way of communicating and listening to the distinct fluid rhythms throughout the body to release restrictions in the CranioSacral System which improves the functioning of the central nervous system, the endocrine system and the immune system.
